Ryan Walter grew up playing hockey in Burnaby, B.C. and like many Canadian boys had dreams of one day playing in the NHL. Ryan graduated to Major Junior Hockey playing for the Kamloops Chiefs. In his final year there he became the Western Hockey League's most valuable player and representative at the Memorial Cup, was named captain of Canada's World Junior team, and was selected second overall in the 1978 entry draft by the Washington Capitals. Ryan spent four wonderful seasons in Washington. One of his responsibilities as captain included liaising with Hockey Ministries as they set up chapels. Ryan went to the first chapel just to make sure everything was set up properly for any of his teammates who might be looking for something like that, although he certainly was not! After that he never missed one. The faith he found in God made a huge impact on the direction Ryan's life would take from there on in. Ryan was part of hockey's legendary Montreal Canadiens and helped them to win hockey's greatest trophy, the Stanley Cup in 1986. In his final season with the Cannucks Ryan played in his 1000th game and was named NHL Man of the year. Ryan is now the color commentator for the Vancouver Cannucks' telecasts on SportsNet. He also is a motivational speaker for corporations, business groups, schools, churches, and charities, helping them to be the best they can be. Ryan is the author of the book ""Off the Bench and Into the Game"
