From time to time during this Christmas season, we’ve been featuring stories of people who are making a difference in their community. Today we meet a former truck driver who made the decision to start helping those less fortunate by giving them food, clothing and the good news. Today we share Roger story. Roger Boyd started Men’s Street Ministry 4 years ago by handing out sandwiches, soup, and men’s clothes to the needy in downtown Hamilton. Donations started pouring in, along with volunteer help, and now Roger has a church service for the homeless and those living in nearby gov’t assisted housing every Sunday. After the service clothes, and blankets are given out along with a hot meal. In Roger’s words this is who attends his church: “I’ve got all walks of life here you could say here… people that struggle with drug addiction, alcoholism, and mental health issues. Who doesn’t love a mystery? Whether we’re binge-watching a series on Netflix or turning book pages late into the night, we are driven by the desire to uncover clues and figure things out. Many of these stories revolve around a central figure, the protagonist, who works to solve the mystery and save the day. The Bible is one of my favorite mystery books. From the opening words of Genesis to the final chapter of Revelation, God’s Word is filled with tantalizing clues, fascinating revelations, and an extraordinary plot. Many of the Bible’s mysteries have nagged at our imaginations for centuries. There are odd characters, dysfunctional families, bloody battles, and courageous heroes yet incredible wisdom within the writings. And readers ask, Who is this mystifying protagonist called the Messiah, the Redeemer who will come to save the world? Mysteries of the Messiah will help you unlock some of these mysteries. You will learn not only about the Messiah but also how the Bible reveals Him and unveils His intense love for you and His relentless pursuit of redemption for all. Connecting the Old Testament with the New Testament is essential to this book’s investigation into the mysteries of the Bible. The catalyst is Matthew 13:52: “Every Torah scholar discipled for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure both new things and old.” Each chapter of Mysteries of the Messiah will spark connections between the old and new.
