Monica Edwards
Monica Edwards is from Lytton First Nation in British Columbia. Her family was directly impacted by the fires and floods that have ravaged not only Indigenous communities, but the whole southern region. She shares the hard-hit realities her people are facing.
Andy Harrington serves as Executive Director of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, a coalition of 30 denominations that work together to end global hunger. Today, we talk with Andy about the impact of the flooding which took place in British Columbia. Andy’s home is located in the mountains outside of Chilliwack BC, and they are basically cut off from everything. Andy brings a unique and personal perspective as someone who is involved in disaster response for a living, as well as the impact on Canada as a whole – since the lower mainland is cut off and it is a major port. This is a great supply chain disruption to the rest of Canada. Andy is currently helping to coordinate disaster response in this area. http://foodgrainsbank.ca
