John Courtney has spent a good portion of his life serving with Youth for Christ, 47 years he served as Executive Director of Youth for Christ Winnipeg and he now fills the role of Development Coach for Youth for Christ International serving YFC National Directors around the world. This is quite remarkable when you consider that, on his Grade 8 Graduation Day, John was told by his elementary school Vice Principal that “he was stupid and would never amount to anything.” These words definitely had an impact and John became a high school dropout. But, his story, God’s story and plan for his life, was nowhere near finished! John shares his remarkable story of a life transformed and called by God to vocational Christian ministry, and later in life he went on to earn two Masters degrees and Honorary Doctorate. Woven throughout John’s journey is a diagnosis with an incurable cancer, and a healing story only possible through God’s power. John’s life has been filled with many answers to prayer, and also God’s amazing provision as he’s served with Youth for Christ – most recently the provision for a $14M building project in the heart of Winnipeg which has allowed the ministry to go from annually reaching 4,300 to 11,000 youth! John’s testimony is evidence that God can work in amazing ways in the lives of those who place their hope and trust in Him. https://yfc.ca/
