Kary Oberbrunner
As a young man, Kary struggled with stuttering and bullying which led to depression, cutting and self-harm. After receiving several degrees including a M.Div, Bachelor’s in theology, and D. Min., he became a pastor for twelve years before expanding his ministry beyond the church. He is now a CEO of a management company with a team of over 300 people and the author of over 8 books. Today, Kary serves as CEO of Igniting Souls and is author of Unhackable: Close the Gap Between Dreaming and Doing. http://unhackablebook.com http://KaryOberbrunner.com Kary believes that although our lives were hacked (unplanned interruption) in 2020, we have learned some valuable lessons. Some of these are: 1) Lessons From a “Hack”? Examples of “hacks” that disrupt our happiness (pandemic, job loss, finances, isolation/depression). Kary can identify the necessity for Urgency, Energy and Agency, and encourages people to prioritize what's important (spiritually too) and learn to trust God even during uncertainty. 2) Identify Your God Given Purpose & Direction: Despite job loss, personal obstacles (divorce, empty nest, health issues, work challenges), you can restore your joy, peace and confidence through your purpose, priority and direction in Christ. 3) New Year/New God Given Goals: Rather than set resolutions - commit to daily time with God, pray He opens/closes doors, find opportunities to serve God and others, create a vision board, learn to take risks in faith. Jesus exemplified a calling and doing in His ministry. Know your identity in Christ. Commit to grow in obedience (Jer. 29:11, 1Thess. 5:18). 4) Adjusting our Perspective: Every challenge is an opportunity to trust God, re-assess our priorities, and pray for His direction. Even a job loss can awaken a career or goals we have put on hold and motivate us to pursue them. Most people don’t realize how blessed they are, or the strength God has given them until they go through an unplanned “hack” like the pandemic.
Dr. David Jeremiah
Throughout the month of April we will be featuring special teaching segments, with Dr. David Jeremiah, that center around his newest book "Hope: Living Fearlessly in a Scary World". For many people, worry, anxiety, and fear are constant companions: fear of death, fear of danger, fear of disease. In today’s unpredictable and contentious world, who can blame us? All too often, these fears are crippling, keeping us from the life God has called us to live. Is there any hope amidst all this darkness? There is. Dr. David Jeremiah explores the top seven fears that are holding so many of us back from the life God has called us to live and shares secrets for facing down these fears with hope in God. With each page, you’ll grow in your conviction that God is the answer you’ve been looking for: as you look to the future, you’ll begin to see nothing except His power and love guarding your every step. Step into the truth and start living the fearless life God created you to enjoy. http://davidjeremiah.org
