Bob (Xiqui) Fu
Bob (Xiqiu) Fu is one of the leading voices in the world for persecuted faith communities in China. Fu was born and raised in mainland China and was a student leader during the Tiananmen Square demonstrating for freedom and democracy in 1989. Fu was also a house church leader in Beijing until he and his wife, Heidi, were imprisoned for two months for "illegal evangelism" in 1996. Bob and Heidi fled to the United States as religious refugees in 1997, and subsequently founded China Aid in 2002 to bring international attention to China's gross human rights violations and to promote religious freedom and rule of law in China. Bob Fu is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Durham University, U.K., graduated from the Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, and was awarded an honorary doctorate degree on Global Christian Leadership from Midwest University, where he has served as a distinguished professor on religion and public policy. Bob graduated with his Ph.D. at Durham University, U.K. in 2018. Fu serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Law and Religion Monitor, a journal on religious freedom and the rule of law in China, and as a guest editor for Chinese Law and Government, a journal by University of California, Los Angeles. http://bobfu.net http://chinaaid.org
Vijay Krishnan
Growing up as a pastor’s kid, the church was a part of Vijay’s life from the beginning. It was there that he met his Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ. The church provided Vijay opportunities to form friendships that have lasted for decades, learn about his spiritual gifts and abilities, and receive guidance from the generation ahead of him. However, during his university years and subsequent corporate work experience, Vijay discovered that for most people, the church was an obstruction (not a pathway) to finding God. He heard story after story of individuals who were sincerely seeking God but encountered hypocrisy, hurt, irrelevance and boredom. Truthfully, this discovery wrecked him. Vijay resolved that if he ever had a chance to be a part of a church community that was able to authentically (though not perfectly) introduce people to Jesus, he would jump in with both feet. God provided that opportunity here at The Well. http://thewell.ca
