On March 19, Samaritan’s Purse—an international Christian relief organization—transported a fully-equipped Emergency Field Hospital—from the United States to its office in Calgary, Alberta to be deployed in the event of a future, international crisis. The tent facility arrived at the Calgary International Airport onboard the organization’s DC-8 and 757 Cargo planes and is now strategically placed in the organization’s local warehouse for emergency preparedness. It was a monumental moment for Samaritan’s Purse Canada as this facility brings the relief organization to a new level of disaster preparedness and will allow the relief group to increase its global medical response capacity in times of future crises. “Today is a very important day for Samaritan’s Purse Canada because it will increase our organization’s ability to respond anywhere in the world with high-quality, life-saving medical assistance,” said Melanie Wubs, International Health Manager for Samaritan’s Purse Canada. “I’ve personally seen the impact that immediate access to medical care has on patients, their families, and the whole community in times of desperate need and am excited to see this facility provide future hope to those in need.” Now that Samaritan’s Purse Canada has this Emergency Field Hospital, I am excited for increased opportunities for our roster of disaster response professionals to deploy in Jesus’ Name, wherever help is needed.” “We are grateful for this Emergency Field Hospital and the opportunity it provides Samaritan’s Purse Canada to reach out with God’s love through medical care,” said Fred Weiss, Executive Director of Samaritan’s Purse Canada. “We pray that wherever we deploy it we would be able to bring hope to suffering people.” http://samaritanspurse.ca
