Mike Freake
Mike was born and raised in Newfoundland, growing up in a little town called Birchy Bay. He never thought he’d do anything in the church because church was not something he enjoyed, but rather it was something he endured. Looking back, Mike remembers being extremely shy, and he struggled with depression and low self-esteem which intensified as he entered his teenage years. Mike blamed God for who he was but this didn’t phase His Heavenly Father who loves each of His children unconditionally. Praise God, Mike did decide to give His life to Jesus while in high school, and in grade 12 he made the decision to go to bible college. The summer before he was to begin college, he went to Manuels NL and volunteered as a camp counsellor at Circle Square Ranch. Mike remembered this from his childhood and seeing the Circle Square Ranch program on television. When he arrived at the ranch, he thought they were wild and crazy, and he didn’t feel he fit in at all. He was almost ready to pack it in and head home, but he didn’t, and from there his life trajectory changed... all for the glory of God.
