Leonard and Victoria Hester
Waskaganish Cree Nation is located on the bottom of the James Bay, in Quebec. Leonard was born and raised in the bush with his family. They hunted, trapped and lived off the land. Victoria was born in a tipi, and learned valuable lessons at an early age by her father. Everything changed when she was sent to residential school. In the school she was mistreated and concluded it was because she was Indian. From there she developed low self-esteem. It wasn’t until later on in life, during a prayer meeting that God showed her a picture of a beautiful Indian princess. Leonard and Victoria have been married for 48 years!
