Karen Ward
After 20 years of working for Camp Mini-Yo-We, Karen Ward was presented with a brand-new opportunity – an invitation to run children’s camps in a remote Indigenous community in Ontario. At first, she said “no” refusing to travel anywhere north of Thunder Bay! Yet it was her father, who worked for World Vision, who persisted she visit with the purpose of meeting the Chief and the people, and thus giving them a starting plan. She was shocked by what she saw that first day driving into the community and couldn’t believe that places like this existed in Ontario and Canada. When it comes to walking out reconciliation, Karen’s story will challenge you to talk less, listen more and ask the question “How best can I help?” For 19 years, Karen continues to lead Burning Stone Ministries, advocating for Indigenous people in the community of Mishkeegogamang Ojibway First Nation in northern, ON. https://www.burningstoneministries.com/

Mike Janzen
Following a serious concussion, musician Mike Janzen was suddenly left with a lot of time and where he couldn't read or look at screens, and so he began to take one or two lines from the book of Psalms, found in the Bible, and he meditated on these. He found that the words of these ancient prayers were full of cries to God in times of great distress. They lifted his spirits even though his circumstances weren't changing. They gave voice to his despair when he couldn't gather up the strength to call out for himself. Out of these meditations came an abundance of songs, some of which we are blessed to share this week on 100 Huntley Street. http://mikejanzentrio.com/psalms-project
