Management Waste: You’ve seen Management Waste in action. Someone, maybe even you, made it to the top, but can’t clean up the mess, resulting in wasted opportunities, time, and lives. I may have appeared to have had a steady career, from attorney to president of Fortune 200 company, Waste Management, and corporate speaker. What you might not know is a tragic accident left my daughter severely disabled, and sent me on a journey that flipped my faith and leadership on its head and helped me lead one of the greatest corporate turnarounds at Waste Management. Now, I’m sharing five simple steps to help you CLEAN up the mess, lead with purpose and become happier, healthier, and more successful than you ever imagined! From the Executive Suite to the back of a garbage truck, I’ve seen a lot in my career. I’ve worked at building companies from the ground up and turning around companies on the brink of disaster. I’ve been the first employee in a start-up (now public company) and led companies with over 50,000 employees. Throughout my career I have had the benefit of learning under some great leaders/mentors. I also worked under some not so good bosses who taught me how I did not want to be as a leader. Along the way, I learned a thing or two about leadership (sometimes the hard way), and I am passionate about sharing these lessons with other business men and women. I am the retired founder, Chairman of the Board, CEO and President of Rockwater Energy Solutions, Inc., now Select Energy Services, a public company. I am proud that during my tenure at Rockwater, we received several awards, including Top Workplaces Leadership Award for a Midsized Employer by the Houston Chronicle, E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year for the Texas Gulf Coast, the Maverick Executive Award by the University of Texas at Arlington, and Houston Chronicle Top Workplace Awards. Prior to forming Rockwater, I spent over 10 years helping to lead the turnaround of Waste Management, Inc., a Fortune 200 company and the largest waste, recycling services, and renewable energy company in North America, where I served as President and COO. During my time at Waste Management, I was the first Undercover Boss. Prior to my time at Waste Management, I was a senior executive with Baker Hughes, the 3rd largest oil services firm in the world. Today, I spend my time sharing what I have learned about successful leadership that I learned throughout my career with organizations, businesses and churches across the nation, as well as other countries. I speak regularly on leadership, coach and mentor leaders in business and churches, teach leadership for Deloitte Consulting, and lead Bible studies and church retreats. After I retired from my business career, I pursued and received my masters in Biblical and Theological Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. http://larryodonnell.com
