Christine Mathews is a Canadian artist who resides in Southern Ontario with her husband and son. She began painting in 2006 as part of a recovery from a life-threatening car accident, which left her immobile for several months. Prior to her accident, Christine thought she had ARRIVED. She had a job she loved, a pay check she loved more, and tons of friends. She worked hard during the week and partied harder on weekends. She was still depressed in her alone times. She knew something wasn’t right but did not know what it was. She remembers crying out to God to help her, to “fix” her. One week later, CRASH. The car accident had her sent into a morphine induced coma. She had suffered a shattered hip, lacerated her liver, brain injury, and collapsed both lungs, along with a broken leg. Her sister’s church prayed for her, and her sister never left her side at the hospital. Her sister prayed with her every night and gave Christine a bible to read. First Christine went to her sister’s bible study, then church. Christine was skeptical at first and wanted to be sure she wasn’t being duped. It took her six months before she gave her heart to Jesus. She started to paint after she decided to follow Christ. Since then, creating artwork has become her life and ministry. God continues to heal her to this day. She strives to create beauty with her gift and aim to spread His love, hope, and restoration through her art. www.cmbear.org
