Judy Mayo
Judy was born with a condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD) and she had no idea this existed until she was 42 years old. Judy has always had a strong faith in Jesus and has lived her life in service to Him as a Salvation Army Pastor. Her love for Jesus poured out of her servant heart in beautiful ways through the years and this love was a blessing to many, most especially her family. Upon learning this new information about her health, and how very serious this condition was, Judy quickly found herself embarking on a medical journey she never saw coming. Judy’s faith, while at times was tested, was only strengthened throughout the most challenging aspects, such as: multiple medical tests, many of which resulted in news that offered little hope, severe illness and pain, and separation from family and close friends when she had to transition from her home in Newfoundland to Ottawa for an undetermined amount of time while awaiting a heart transplant there was no guarantee of. To quote Judy’s words from her written testimony “when asked to share my story I had no problem saying yes, but not because of me or what I’ve overcome, but because I serve a God Who overcomes.”
