By practicing a few wonderfully simple practices—or what John calls “graces”—you can begin to recover your soul, disentangle from the tragedies of this broken world, and discover the restorative power of beauty. In his latest book “Get Your Life Back: Everyday Practices for a World Gone Mad” readers are encouraged to ask themselves: • Are you happy most of the time? • Do you feel deeply loved? • Are you excited about your future? • How often do you feel lighthearted? After reading this book you will… • Learn how to insert the One Minute Pause into your day • Begin practicing “benevolent detachment” and truly let it all go • Offer kindness toward yourself in the choices you make • Drink in the simple beauty available to you every day • Take realistic steps to unplug from technology overload These simple practices and others are ready for the taking. You don’t need to abandon your life to get it back. Begin restoring your life here and now. Your soul will thank you for it. http://ransomedheart.com
Addison Aspilla is the Associate Pastor at Bramalea Free Methodist Church in Brampton, ON. Stuck in quarantine, Addison was forced to reimagine what it meant to fulfill God’s mission while practicing social distancing. Physically limited from local church ministry; Addison began the personal challenge to love as many people as he could through quality time. He is now sitting down with 1000 people, 1-on-1, for 1-hour at a time over video chat in order to help flatten the curve of social isolation. You can follow Addison’s journey on Instagram @a.thousand.stories.project. Addison Also developed the “Love Each Other” (LEO) Challenge. The LEO Challenge gives viewers practical challenges to Love Each Other despite the limitations of physical distancing and physical touch. Quality time with 1000 people over video chat is not practical for most Huntley viewers. However, many viewers might be willing and able to try something like choreographing a silly dance routine with the family at home. The goal is to encourage friends and three generational families: grandparents, parents, and grandchildren to spend quality time together; especially during this time.
Ryan & Jennifer Walter
Ryan Walter was drafted #2 in the world and became the NHL's youngest-ever captain for a time as a Washington Capital. He went on to be an NHL All-Star and Stanley Cup Champion with the Montreal Canadiens, and NHLPA Vice-President and NHL Man of the Year while playing for the Vancouver Canucks. Ryan's colourful career has also included coaching, acting, broadcasting, writing, and being the president of a professional hockey team. Ryan says “I am thankful for my 17 seasons as an NHL player and coach, which certainly accelerated my learning curve in the 3 critical areas of Leadership, Team, and Performance. You can see in our model that Team Synergy and Performance form the sides of the triangle, while Leadership remains the foundation of all success. Culture is shaped whether we focus on it or not. Intelligent growth and development in the 3 areas of the Performance triangle will shape a positive, more engaging culture. I have chosen to center my topics on these 3 areas of passion, with the goal of inspiring a revitalized, hungry and better future for all.” Author of multiple books including “Simply the Best”, Ryan is all about giving back to others. In terms of his faith journey, Ryan came to Christ while captain of the NHL’s Washington Capitals. His teammate, Jean Pronovost, who had a great Christian walk, including a loving marriage, greatly impacted Ryan, along with the chapels that Hockey Ministries International provided for their team. After a period of internal struggle, a harrowing plane ride, and the work of the Holy Spirit in his life, Ryan received Jesus as his Lord and Saviour, and has loved his walk with Him. Ryan and Jennifer currently host marriage conferences at their Breakaway Retreat Centre. Jennifer enjoy speaking at outreach events, fundraising events, and discipleship events, on her own, and together with Ryan. Jennifer has been surrounded by hockey for most of her life. She started with a part-time job at age 16, selling programs at Peterborough Petes games. Next, she became a hockey wife, married to her NHL playing husband (later broadcaster and coach) for the past 32 years. This led to becoming a Hockey Mom to 3 boys* who played in a variety of leagues from minor hockey, through BCHL, PIJHL, NCAA, American Hockey League, NHL, ACHA, BCIHL, FL, SHL, and Austrian Hockey League. http://ryanwalter.com http://jennwalter.com
Royal City Worship
Royal City Worship started when Worship Central, a global worship movement to equip, empower and resource the local church began to impact Canada. Desiring to see the local church of Canada be equipped and empowered in a way like never before - there began Worship Central Canada. Songs began to form as we gathered, and dreams continue to unfold as we move forward. There is more God wants to do in our cities, in our provinces, in this country. And so, we write. And so, we sing. And so, we wait to see what God will do next. We are RCW. http://royalcityworship.com
