Carolyn DellaForesta
Earlier this year, Carolyn joined us to share about how the Nursing Home she oversees, Almonte Country Haven, was navigating the Covid-19 pandemic as they experienced a large outbreak at the home. We recently caught up with Carolyn and she shared with us how the residents, and staff, at the home will be cared for and remembered in some special ways this during this Christmas Season. It is a reminder to us to take time to pray for, and reach out to, those who are often overlooked at this time of year.
Marcel Knot
Marcel Knot’s recounts the story of his Jewish grandparents who were in hiding during WWII. His grandfather in a work camp escape and after the war, he and his grandmother raised 6 kids. Marcel’s father was oldest and he had borderline personality disorder. Marcel was one of 4 kids and he grew up in Holland. He describes himself as introverted, and he experienced abuse from his father. Marcel developed anxiety and depression and felt he wasn’t worth anything. Raised in the church, he questioned God Who, to him, seemed was never there for him. At 17, he had enough. He left a suicide note on the table and went to a train station ready to jump and end his life. As a train was approaching, he heard a clear voice that said “I love you”. He questioned it, and said ‘If that’s you, you better show yourself to me.’ He felt a force pushing him back from the platform and went home. This moment was life changing for Marcel and started his journey toward the future God had been preparing him for. You can hear the whole story here.
