Kidnapped at 15 and used as a child soldier, Jemal has seen a lot in his life. He turned to drugs and alcohol to numb the pain and eventually wound up on the streets involved in gang life. Homeless and desperate, Jemal went to Union Gospel Mission (UGM) for help. He had heard the Name Jesus before and was intrigued, but not broken enough to call out to him. Until the day he lost another person in his life to a drug overdose. It was then that Jemal ran, desperately, to to seek help and hope. From there, Jesus started to change his life and he gives God all the glory for where he is now.www.Jemald.com
Art moved in with his girlfriend at 15 years of age. He was addicted to drugs and alcohol. His girlfriend was murdered at a party one night and he was a suspect. He contemplated suicide but threw up a prayer to whoever would hear and was radically answered by the presence of God. He discovered his Indigenous roots and eventually met other Indigenous leaders who believed in God. Upon hearing the drum for the first time, something in him awoken. Today he leads outdoor festivals and has a passion to see the First Peoples of Canada united with the Church, as one new man to bring healing.
